Water pump (hand operated)

Water pump (hand operated)

Hello everyone,

I'm starting my 3rd Assignment for my Spanish Course, in which I'm talking about my early life and comparing things to nowadays.

I need a word/words to mean! 'water/pitcher pump'. The type that one used to find in kitchen sinks before we had taps, operated by hand, as in the photo below. (Ours used water from a well in the garden.)

I've found 'bomba hidráulica' for water pump but I expect this is a different type of pump.

Muchísimas gracias, amigos míos.

What, don't we all still use those? - Yeser007, May 15, 2011

Kiwi is right. It is simply called "bomba manual", but you can add "de agua" or "hidráulica" (more technical) if you want to avoid ambiguity.

Would 'bomba de agua manual' work? If you google search images with those words you get lots of these smile

Thanks MC, sounds a very likely option! I'll just wait a bit and see if any more ideas come along just in case. :) - galsally, May 15, 2011
