Is this question correct?

Is the sentence Cómo fue escuela hoy? ok or is there another way I should be saying this? By the way I am trying to say, how was school today?

You can say "¿cómo fue la escuela hoy?"... ok, since lazarus has kindly told us, this phrase is not used...

"¿cómo estuvo la escuela hoy?"... sounds better...

or ¿Cómo te fue en la escuela?, you know is "today" by context... yeah, this one is the best I'd say...

I think what you said is correct because ser is used for descriptions where as estar would be more of a condition. I think of ser as being more permanent and estar being only for a certain amount of time.

in Mexican Spanish, is way more common to say, "¿cómo estuvo la fiesta?", than "¿cómo fue la fiesta?", but I think in Spain is the other way around... - Tonyriva, May 14, 2011

I am probably going to be corrected on this but I'm pretty sure I've heard people say Que tal el vuelo? (How was the flight)

I'm therefore guessing you can say Que tal el esuela hoy?
