After our Skype chat this morning I was working in my garden and found two precious things that I wanted to share with my friends on Spanishdict.

The first thing I found was a "bower" of a Satin Bowerbird. This beautiful bird builds a bower and decorates it with pretty blue things to impress a female bowerbird. This particular bowerbird has decided to collect blue pegs and blue string. He spends hours rearranging his collection. When the female finally arrives the male does a special dance in front of his bower. If the female is not impressed she destroys the bower immediately and the male has to start all over again.link text

The other thing I "came across" this morning was a baby blue-tongue (lizard) These harmless (dog-food-stealing) lizards are very common in gardens across Australia.

.Perhaps you have a creature in your country that has an unusual habit. Tell us about it - in English and Spanish!

I know I've posted about the bowerbird before but wanted to stretch my depleted Spanish-skills. So please correct my Spanish if you have time - much appreciated! - nonombre, May 14, 2011
Oh and here in Australia if someone is well known to be a bit "light-fingered" (a bit of a thief) they get to be known as "a bit of a bowerbird"! - nonombre, May 14, 2011
Annie: Thats what my Dad calls people when they steal, Bower Bird. :) - Destroyed99, May 14, 2011
annie, I have corrected your post, but this should not be expected, this is general discussions, and you have no mod for the thread, but anyway, yours is done, but this is an exception;) - 00494d19, May 14, 2011
Oh okay, I did wonder about where I should "put it" - many thanks :o - nonombre, May 14, 2011
