Hello bhourn and Welcome to the SpanishDict forumsmile

Your question: ''Mi memoria favorita de niña has to be cuando...

How is "has to be" said in this context?''

I would say:: '' tiene que ser''

Mi memoría favorita de estar una niña tiene que ser cuando .....(etc). =My favourite memory of being a girl has to be when......

Did you mean of being a girl(child) or of childhood? This would be

Mi memoría favorita de nuñez tiene que ser cuando.....(etc)

I hope that helps grin

Tiene que ser, definitely. The other option is not right, Feliz. - Gekkosan, May 11, 2011
Debe "de" ser - 005faa61, May 11, 2011
Thank You Gekko and Julian :) I have removed the option deber que ser as being incorrect - FELIZ77, May 11, 2011

I think "tiene que ser" is better, too.

"Debe que ser" would be more like "must be"... but I guess we could say that in English, too. smile
