Good to know

In English we use the phrase "good to know" that is the equivalent of saying "That is a good thing to know". Now I can do a direct translation of that, but I'm looking for something that sounds more colloquial. Now the closest thing that I can come up with is "Es lo bien saber", but that just seems.... wrong. It strikes me as more like "It's the good thing to know", which doesn't ring right with me.
I'm at a bit of a loss. I've also got a niggling feeling that I am over-analyzing this.

Nick, I would go with:
Es bueno saberlo.
Me alegro saberlo.

I don't know of any idiomatic thing off the top of my head, but I would say "Es bueno saberlo" if you wanted to be literal.
