por or para when thanking someone for their help?

I want to know if I should use por or para when thanking someone. Gracias por tu ayuda?

Welcome to the forum!
I use "por" for that application.
A native speaker will give a better answer, but thanks for asking the question.

so Well Done! You would use por in this case
Another example eg Me gustaría agradecirte por tu ayuda
o Me gustaría darte las gracias por tu ayuda
= I would like to thank you for your help

in some instances you could use both but for this particular question yes, you would use Por
