make him smile
Hello,
Please can somebody check my sentence? I am not sure how to say 'make him smile'
You have a child inside your soul which can make a difficult man like him also smile.
Tiene un niño dentro de su alma que puede hacer también un hombre difícil como él sonreir.
Gracias

Probably because they didn't put in the discussion title.
One common way to translate lograr is "to manage to."
Logré olvidarla = I managed to forget her
Logré hacerlo sonreir = I managed to make him smile
When another person is involved, we can use "get to."
Logré que repararan el auto = I got them to fix the car
Logré que me esperaran = I got them to wait for me
I read this sentence on a greeting card and I was not sure how to put it in Spanish so I posted it here. Yes I also had that question in my mind mateuj and James but I didn't dare to question the use of 'also' in this sentence as it was sent by a native English speaker.
But now I know my questioning about 'also' was not too wrong.
Just one question mateuj ... why did you use lograr in the sentence? I searched the word and it gave me meaning of attain or accomplish. Is it one of the ways to express 'make some body do something' in Spanish?
Thank you for your replies.
I agree with mateuj that "also" sounds odd in the original. I assume the intended meaning is "You have a child inside your soul which can make even a difficult man like him smile." In that case, I would modify mateuj's translation to "Tiene un niño dentro de su alma que puede hacer sonreir incluso/aún a un hombre dificil como él."
Tiene ud. un niño dentro de su alma que también puede hacerle sonreír a un hombre difícil como él
Tiene ud. un niño dentro de su alma que también puede hacer que sonría un hombre difícil como él
Those are my best guesses, but wait for other responses before you accept them. I have heard hacer sonreir before, but the order of your sentence was a little hard to follow. Anyway, I'm open to alternatives and improvements.
