I understand most reflexive verbs, but acordarse and recordar are both puzzling to me, can someone help?

Acordarse and recordar are synonims.

Just one thing: acordarse uses allways the preposition "de": acordarse de algo.

Acuérdate de llamar al médico.

No me acuerdo de cómo se llama.

¿Te acuerdas de mi?

Recuerda llamar al médico

No recuerdo cómo se llama.

¿Me recuerdas?

Acuerdate cuando fuimos a la tienda or Recuerda cuando fuimos a la tienda. Acuerdate de llamar a tu médico mañana or Recuerda llamar a tu médico mañana. Just more practice and you'll get it!

Good question! I just got off a Skype video call with my Colombian friend, and I asked her, verbatim, your question. She did some trial sentances using both verbs, both past, present, and future tenses and told me that they are synonoms. One is not used any differently than the other. Beatrice, in the note above captures it best when she said one sounds more natural.Notethat Diana uses 'acurdate' (a-qwer-da-te) for the acordar verb. For example: 'Aurdate cuando fuemos a la tienda'.., or 'por favor, recuredas llamar su medico mañana.' I hope this helps.

I'm not a native, but what most of my native friends tell me is that they are the same but acordarse sounds more natural. That's all I have for that one.
