New 'Face covering' law in France

New 'Face covering' law in France

France has a new law. You know what the law is. The new law says that no one is allowed to cover up their face. What they are really saying is that Muslim women are not allowed to wear a veil. This is terrible. The French president Nicolas Sarkozy, said that if a woman is wearing a veil that it means that she is being oppresed and not a sign of her religion. However what if the woman is wearing it because she wants to. He has got no right to say what people wear. I am not a Muslim and I am angry. So how would you feel if you were a Muslim?

Tell me what you think.

Here are corrections to a few words: "allowed"; "wants"; "angry"; "were" a Muslim. I'm sure these were typos. I just don't want those learning English to be confused. :) - Nicole-B, May 5, 2011

I would abide by the law - language and culture of the country I chose to live in and that accepted me. - ian-hill, May 6, 2011
@ian Bueno, esta claro que NO se aceptan a las mujeres que se visten del velo. - Pauly_Glot, May 6, 2011
It's clearly meant as a means of preventing security breaches from happening (i.e. terrorists cannot get away) - bhournbuckle, May 12, 2011
