What is "como tampoco"?

Hi,

So I'm reading this passage and it says "Como tampoco lo tenía el hecho, para ellos misterioso, de que supiese algunas veces los nombres de montañas y de ríos que mis propios acompañantes...ignoraban."

What does "Como tampoco" mean in the context of this sentence?

"Como tampoco" is not an idiom.

Como: Since/As

tampoco: either/neither (depending on context)

tenía [could be yo (I), él/ella (he/she) or usted (you)]: I had

el hecho: the fact

I'm more puzzled by the construction of "Lo tenía el hecho." There are 2 direct objects here. I'd say lo is unnecessary & must be omitted. I've seen "el hecho lo tenía" (I forgot how that construction is called), but "lo tenía el hecho", never.

Exactly, that's why "el hecho lo tenía" is correct. That construction has been mentioned before in one of the threads. "Lo tenía el hecho" to me is wrong. - Deanski, May 3, 2011

Unfortunally you hasn't put the first sentence, because this is just the conclusion, so I can't guess what "tenía" refers to. Could you write the complete sentence, please?
