What Lector said is true however it is very difficult for someone who has not grown up having personally experienced love in the form of forgiveness to give back the same to others in the form of forgiving them.

Once we have personally experienced the Love of God the father through Jesus and realized how much he, God has forgiven us all of our sin through the sacficial death of Jesus on the cross it becomes much easier to do because it is not us striving to forgive others in our own human strength (ability) but drawing upon that divine source of supernatural strength within us provided by the Holy Spirit we can simply chose to forgive and God will do teh rest. I know from experience as I have been a Christian for over 20 years and have been able to forgive those who bullied me for years at school

Do we need to forgive? Yes since we are likely to need the forgivness of others as we go through life.

Don't know if this will help but during twenty-some years as an NCO I followed the motto: "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission."
