Hello Zursole and Welcome to the SpanishDict forum![]()
As a question it is normally written/translated as:
1 ¿Tú estabas entre la multitud?" = Were you in the crowd?
As a statement (of fact) it is written as
2 Tú estabas entre la multitud = You were in the crowd
Please note that the position of the conjugated verb were (from verb to be) and the pronoun "You"..... is reversed when a statement is made Please compare sentences 1 and 2 in which you will see this point illustrated
Sometimes, people might use the informal form in spoken English: ''eg:
''You were really in the crowd when Leonardo de Caprio passed by?''
The tone of voice would have to be raised on the words you were really to emphasize that it was a question. The person asking the question is using a tone of voice to show that they are incredulous.
I hope this helps ![]()

¿Tú estabas entre la multitud? = Were you in/among the crowd?
En el hablar, es más común usar "in" que "among"
That was correct. It could also translate to "you were among the crowd" and "you were between the crowd".
between entre dos cosas among entre tres o mas cosas.
Depende...
You were in the crowd - estaba en un lugar con muchas personas o
You were with the crowd - tambien puede decir lo mismo o estaba de acuerdo con las opiniones del grupo with = de acuerdo/simpático
estoy confundida :/ me gustaria saber como se dice en ingles en forma de pregunta y no de afirmacion: ¿Tú estabas entre la multitud?
Como una pregunta: Were you in/among the crowd?
Nunca he oído "between the crowd." Tengo entendido que se usa "between" cuando hay cosas específicas. La multitud es ambigua y por lo tanto se usa "among."
Ejemplos:
You went among the people.
You chose between him and her.
The enemies were among the trees.
but is a question.. how? .. is: you were among the crowd? or you were between the crowd? Or: did you were among the crowd? - did you were between the crowd?
