Translating a Song Into Spanish
Does anybody know any specific rules a song writer is supposed to follow when translating a contemporary song into Spanish?

I'm not sure there are any actual rules but if you have to change a line because it doesn't translate exactly or it doesn't fit the rhythm, try to keep the meaning of it as close to the original meaning as possible, this is much more difficult when it's a song rather than just any written passage because you have a rhythm to follow and they can be very poetic so you have to keep that mood intact aswell

From my experience songs are often changed drastically between languages because translation doesn't conserve the rhythm and rhyme. For example, look at Enrique Iglesias' song "Dímelo" and the english version called "The Ping Pong Song" or "Do You Know?." It is drastically different to maintain attractiveness to native speakers in the certain language.
