Alivianame, no?

I was one day walking on the beach and a young man seemingly drunk and homeless asked me "Alivianame por favor." Was he asking for money, help or something else? I said "no tengo". which meant I had no money. But left wondering what he really meant.

Some slang use of the word. My guess is that he was asking for help. What kind of help? Maybe you were right and he wanted money.

Depends on where you were but my guess is he was drunk and he was talking to himself. Alivianame means take it easy or play it cool so he was probable telling himself to take it easy on the drinking.
