Trying to determine how to translate the phrase "rolling thunder"? As in there were rolling thunder storms across the midwest.

Hello Adam, welcome to the Forum!

That's a tricky one!

As far as I can see, there is no direct translation for "Rolling Thuder". I have seen some interpretations as a literal "trueno rodante", and also "estruendo rodante". I don't find either very satisfactory, but darned if I can think of something better. hmmm

The full sentence is a bit easier, because I have context to play with. I'd say:

Habían /hubieron / tuvimos tormentas eléctricas rodando a través del medio oeste.
