You could say either "Ella sabe de un buen restaurante (She knows of a/about a good restaurant)

or "Ella conoce un buen restaurante" (She knows a good restaurant). (although I have heard ""Ella conoce de un buen restaurante")

What I believe you should not say is "Ella sabe un buen restaurante". Maybe our other Spanish speakers could put their 2 cents in.

So, would this work: "Ella sabe un montón de buenos restaurantes" (She knows many good restaurants)?? - berrybobo, Apr 23, 2011

¡Hola!, Berrybobo:

Here is another reply. This reply might answer, in part, explaining why you might use saber or conocer..

................................Comparing Conocer and Saber
....................Conocer
To meet or be acquiainted with
people, places, things

.....................Saber
To have knowledge of facts, data, processes

To know or to be acquainted with people, to be familiar with people:
• “Conozco a mi tio.”
I know my uncle.
To know facts:

• “¿Sabes que mi tio tiene las diabetes?”
Do you know that my uncle has diabetes.
This question is about facts not aquaintanceship.

To be acquainted with and have
experience of a place:

• “Mi familia conocemos a nuestra ciudad natal.”
My family is familiar with our home town
Speaking of facts, consider:

• “No sé nada.”
I don’t know anything. (I know no facts. I have no knowledge.)

To meet people, use conocer:

• “Conocí a mi maestro en una aula”
I met my teacher in a classroom

To know how to do something, to swim,to play tennis,to play guitar:
• “María sabe tocar el piano.”
Maria knows how to play the piano.

In addition, here is a YouTube Video that explains these differences and the uses of "Conocer" and "Saber" ----> Conocer/Saber

"Ella conoce un montón de buenos restaurantes" or "Ella sabe de un montón de buenos restaurantes". - 002067fe, Apr 23, 2011

I often think of "sabe" as having a knowledge of, and "conocer" as being aquainted

with.

Sé de paco, pero yo no lo conozco bien.

I know of Paco, but I dont know him well.

I hope that is correct Thommo , please correct me .

["Sé quién es Paco/Sé de Paco/Conozco a Paco"] are all accepted. "Sé que Paco" and "Sé Paco" are not. - 002067fe, Apr 23, 2011
Thank you thommo , I nearly got there , give me another 10 years. - ray76, Apr 23, 2011

I think it would be "sabe".

I consider conocer to be used when talking about proper nouns/things with names.
