When a thread has been closed

When a thread has been closed

I wonder if it's possible to have a symbol on threads that are closed, similar to the green check mark on threads where an answer has been accepted. There have been times when I wasn't paying attention and wrote an answer to the post only before realizing it was closed. Often I wouldn't even read the question if I knew it was closed before I looked at it. Is this a good idea? Is it even possible to do?

Leatha,
Normally you are not allowed to answer a thread that has been closed. As soon as it comes to a mods attention the thread is closed and no more posts can be made. You might have posted in the in-between-stages of mods attention...then closing...as you were posting...and then the thread closing. I hope this helps and makes sense. smile Have a great day!!

What I meant was that I wrote the post, and found out when I tried to enter it, that the post was closed. I've always assumed that the post was closed before I started and I wasn't paying attention. - Leatha, Apr 22, 2011
:) Yeah, like I said to DJ, it was clearer the second time around. :) - Jason7R, Apr 22, 2011

After I wrote this question, Izanoni went to a recent closed post and changed the title to reflect that. That is a great help. I was just thinking a sign like the red x could be automatic.

Gracias, Izanoni.

"Normally you are not allowed to answer a thread that has been closed." -Jason

I think she meant she had took time and wrote a good answer, and then when she tries to post, it says closed and she realizes she just wasted time. downer That's a bummer, been there and done that.

Anyways, I agree Leatha, and it's a good idea. A nice red X in place of the green ? would be a nice improvement.

Got ya DJ, good call. After reading it again, that would make more sense!! :) - Jason7R, Apr 22, 2011
Lol, yea. But yours is right too, and even with my idea, you could still get stuck writing before it's closed and then post denied because it was closed in the process. Sucks ;-P - DJ_Huero, Apr 22, 2011
Yes I agree Dj we need to have a clear symbol to show that the post has been closed :) - FELIZ77, Apr 22, 2011
