How to answer a certain question in Spanish
I was just wondering how you would answer this question:
"Aprendiste algo nuevo en clase?"
For example, the question:
"Ayer, ¿viste un video en la clase de español?"
The answer would be (I think):
Sí, ayer vi un video en la clase de español.
I wasn't sure how to answer the question, and more specifically, I wasn't sure what form to put the verb, aprender, into. Would the conjugation be aprendi?
Thanks!

Si, aprendí algo nuevo en clase de español ayer. Bien hecho... Saludos desde Madrid.
I agree with Felix that you would respond to.../or answer the question using the same tense as the questioner in most cases, although, to be honest I am not sure what would constitute an exception.
eg: Pregunta 1 : ''¿Aprendiste algo nuevo en clase de español, hoy?'' (preterito)
= ''Did you learn something new in class, today?''
Respuesta/Contesta: ''Sí, aprendí algo nuevo en clase, hoy.''
= ''Yes, I learnt something new in class, today.''
Pregunta 2: ''¿Has aprendido algo nuevo en clase de español, hoy?'' (Perfecto de indicativo)
Respuesta/Contesta: ''Sí, he aprendido algo nuevo en clase de español, hoy''
I hope this helps ![]()
Typically, you answer a question in the tense given (I say typically, because they're probably many exceptions).
Will you go there tomorrow? Yes, I will.
Have you seen this movie? Yes, I have.
Did you go jogging this morning? Yes, I did. (In this case, you could also say "Yes, I went jogging", but keep in mind, both forms are the same in Spanish, using the preterit)

¿Haces un viaje a España?
yes aprendí.
¿A qué horá es tu clase de español?
