I think it would be a substitution for putting le in front of voy, but I heard I was wrong.

Cranda, here is a link to the reference page on this site that will describe the use of "le" with "comprar".
In this case, "le" is the indirect object pronoun. It means "to buy something for someone". The object being bought would be the direct object.
The link will also describe the conditions where the indirect object may be added to the infinitive.
