Potty Dance

Potty Dance

So in the Picture of the Day post, I saw an interesting question asked by timmyspanish and thought it was worth asking everyone.

"¿Cómo se dice "potty dance" in español? Baile de baño?"

Some may know it as the peepee dance, like when you have to go to the restroom or you're making a funny movement and someone asks, "you got to go to the restroom or something?"

The first idea that crossed my mind it was:

"Tener el formiguillo"

But I've checked it and it seems it does not exist in Spanish, LOL so it must be "slangy" from my area. It does exist "tener el hormiguillo" but I've never heard that in this context.

So the closer equivalent I can think in proper Spanish is "tener el baile de San Vito", but it applies to every anxious or nervous movement, it is not so specifical for a bathroom situation.

However, nothing seems to me more effective than an honest "¡me estoy meando!" or alternatively, '¡me estoy haciendo pis!' or 'estoy algo apurado! ...

I think the "...baile de San Vito" would be closest, because the phrase can be used alternatively to refer to anxious or nervous movements as well, like if you're doing the dance and you look like you have to go. - DJ_Huero, Apr 19, 2011
