In one of Heidi's recent exercises I have learnt a new phrase which could be applicable here:

(Ella) tiene treinta y pico años = She is thirty odd years old /she's thirty something years old. You can just change the years here to however many you want them to be wink

I accept that this is not the exact phrase/concept that you are looking for but I think you will find it fairly close

In case you do not know, Heidi is a native from Madrid and she works as our chief admin person here ;-) smile grin

I hope this helps grin

In the context of how I wanted to use it i.e. I said 'Bienvenido a los treintas(años)!' for my friend's bithday. - barhamo, Apr 19, 2011
II would have put something like: **Bienvenida a la fiesta para los chicos de treinta y pico años** It is considered cool in English to use snappy or short expressions among young people, but as pilar correctly said there is no direct translation to say - FELIZ77, Apr 19, 2011
what you were wanting to say - FELIZ77, Apr 19, 2011
Thanks! - barhamo, Apr 28, 2011

En realidad es difícil de traducir. Se puede decir "tengo treinta y tantos, cuarenta y tantos", etc pero no hay traducción directa. Por ejemplo en la frase: "She was in her late forties" la traducción sería "tenía cuarenta y muchos años" o "tenía cuarenta y pico años". Espero haber ayudado algo.

I wonder if it's ever said this way: "Estoy en mi tercera década" - perhaps a native can elaborate.

3rd decade = 20-30 (count starts from zero as with 21st century = 2000-3000) - samdie, Apr 19, 2011
