hi friend,
"estar hecho polvo" is an idiom. it is used to say one is very very exhausted, tired, depressed, shattered... .
Estoy hecho de polvo is a way of saying that you are exhausted but miss the de out of it as you have just done says that you have been laid so you have to watch how you say it when you use that phrase.
It is used with people when someone is mentaly devastated because of a bad break up or something like that but it is most used to say that something is destroyed, like a car:
Después del choque el auto quedó hecho polvo. (After the car crash the car is(sort of "remained") destroyed).
Su novia rompió con él y está hecho polvo. (His girlfriend broke up with him and he is devastated).
Any English similar?.
