There are so many awful 'chat up' lines in English.

What are the best / funniest ones in Spanish and or English?

AND the worst ones.

Ladies let us insensitive males know. wink

It is a national sport and art form here.

I'm guessing that "chat up lines" is the equivalent of what we call "pick up lines" in the U.S.? ;) - Nicole-B, Apr 21, 2011
Yep - ian-hill, Apr 21, 2011
Although one can "chat someone up" without "picking them up" - a subtle difference - ian-hill, Apr 21, 2011

I have actually been subjected this lame pick-up line:

"I must be dead because I'm seeing an angel."

¿Crees en amor a primera vista? ¿O debo pasar de nuevo delante de ti?

Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?

I think all chat up lines are pretty bad raspberry.

"Does this handkerchief smell like chloroform to you?"

Not an actual pick up line, but it makes me laugh. Definitely not politically correct.

Smudge, welcome to the forum. This one certainly ranks as awful. - Yeser007, Apr 20, 2011
Thanks...I'm sure it could only work for Charlie Harper (2 and half men) - smudgedj, Apr 20, 2011
What's wrong with that? Kinda like it, haha! - Sheily, Apr 20, 2011
hehehe, Sheily, the "you look absolutely stunning" part is great, but do you like the suggestion that it took any amount of time to achieve it? - Yeser007, Apr 21, 2011

"Would you like some conversation?" "Quisieras conversar un rato?"

The first thing my late husband ever said to me. He approached me by the pool of the hotel we both happened to be staying at in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

We conversed happily together for many years after that!

Well this is certainly the most unlame one here, simple, sincere and understandably very memorable to you Sheily:) - Yeser007, Apr 21, 2011

I do not use pick-upllines For a start I believe that compliments should always be sincere so why say woud any guy or girl want to repeat the same set phrase/s to different girls ? When that is done I think it cheapens the words (makes them seem less genuine every time they are repeated)

I personally believe that some people are good at picking-up new partners because they exude a lot of confidence but the same individuals do not always have the personal qualities that it takes to sustain a relationship committment, faithfulness, trust etc...
