Possessive her = su

Ella is she and her, but if you're looking to say something to the effect of "her book," you would say, "su libro." Or i suppose you could also say, "el libro de ella" for clarification purposes.

or suyo, suya (her) - 0074b507, Apr 13, 2011
In such a short sentence like "her book", you can't say "suyo/a", unless you have a referent/context, for example, a previous question. "Whose is this book?" --- "Suyo". Nevertheless, you're not implying it's HERS. - Seijaku, Apr 14, 2011

Looks like it can be "her" when it is used as the object of preposition. " I gave it to her." Lo di a ella. Otherwise it is "she" when used as a subject pronoun - which is often omitted in speech and text because the finite verb and context often supply the subject. At least that is what I believe I undersand correctly. If not, corrections are welcome.
