Both the RAE dictionary and ours list the gerundio of reír as riendo (without an accent mark) so
estoy riendo
estás riendo
etc.,

Learn how this tense is conjugated. Then you'll understand why the tilde is on the I sometimes.

I think I understand why it is reí, but then rio (sometimes breaking the diphthong, sometimes not), but I wouldn't call it obvious. - 0074b507, Apr 12, 2011
