question about the sentence structure...
Gabriela tiene más amigos de los que tiene Carlota.
Elena canta mejor de lo que Ud. cree.
Why is it that in the first sentence Carlota is after tiene,
but in the second sentence Ud comes before cree?
1 Answer
Whereas English tends to follow a very strict "subject-verb-object" word order,
Spanish is somewhat more flexible. What this means is that the subject pro-
noun "Ud." could have very well come either before or after the verb and still
been considered grammatically correct.
