Is this the same to say potato or la papa

"Papa" is the original Quechua word used for this tuber, which is why the word is still in use in the south of Spain and in many part of Latin America. In the rest of Spain they think that saying "papa" is just being lazy, but they are obviously unaware of the story and etymology of the word. The sweet potato in the indigenous Taino language (spoken in Haiti) was batata (which is still the Spanish word for it), and the Spaniards mixed "papa" and "batata" to create "patata", which was borrowed in English as "potato".
"Papa" (meaning Pope) comes from Latin "Papa" (tutor), from Greek "papas" (father).
La papa = potato
El Papa = the Pope
Papá = Dad
Las papas in México, Las patatas in España.

la(s) papa(s) = the potato(es)
