Article Help and correction of errors please?

Question

First of all: If I want to say the shirt but its me as a guy talking would I say:

la camisa blanca or

el camiso blanco?

Second: I have to write a tv script for a shopping trip in spanish. Can you tell me if this stuff is correct and if not correct it:

El Cliente (Vincent): Hola, Qué pasa? El Amigo (Adrian): Hola, Vincent! Nada. La Dependienta (Drena): Buenos tardes muchachos! Vincent: ¿Ve esta camisa verde? Adrian: Si! ¿Te gusta? Vincent: Esta camisa verde es más de moda que la camisa azul. Adrian: Estoy de acuerdo. Drena: Me gusta demasiado. Vincent: Bien, gracias Adrian y Drena. Adrian: Usted tiene más camisas. Vincent: Si! Esta camisa azul y amarillo es más de moda que la camisa blanco. Drena: No, No estoy de acuerdo señor. Adrian: ¿Por qué? Drena: La camisa azul y amarillo es menos de moda que la camisa blanco. Porque me gusta colores sólidos. Blanco es un color sencillo.

la camisa blanca...camisa is a feminine noun. It's gender is not effected by the sex of the person wearing it. (don't confuse it with blusa)

Drena: Me gusta demasiado What are you trying to say? I like it too much?

Adrian: Usted tiene más camisas. Is this a question? ¿Tiene usted más camisas? Why is Adrien [the friend] addressing Vincente [el cliente] as usted? [Vincente is the one who answers the question/statement; not Drena [the store employee].

Who is talking to whom gets confusing here.

Firstly, the article must agree with the noun in number and gender so it would be: la camisa blanca.

Then in your paragraph you seem to have missed the '¿' before '¿Qué pasa.? and the whole set of question marks around '¿Tiene más camisas?

Also when you say - 'me gusta demasiado' did you really want to say 'I like it too much'? or did you want to say 'too'?

If it's the later that would be - 'Yo también me gusta.'

amarilla - needs to be feminine (in two places) as it's describing the camisa also feminine

me gustan: gustan needs to be plural to match the plural colores.

What about if im talking about a guy (me)?? I'm confused. Wouldn't it be el camiso blanco??? - vincent93, Apr 10, 2011

How do I fix it so its not usted like you said?

First, let's be sure how each is addressing each other.

Vincent: ¿Ve esta camisa verde? Ve is formal. It should be ves if he is addressing Adrian. Ve is ok if he is addressing the store employee [Drena].

If it is not clear who is addressing whom then add an explanation.

Vincent [a Adrien]: ¿Ves esta camisa verde?

Adrian: Si! ¿Te gusta?

So Adrian is addressing Vincent with the informal. I would make him address her with the informal also and the storekeeper with the formal.

Adrian: Usted tiene más camisas.

Adrian [a Drena] ¿Tiene usted más camisas?

Adrian [a Vincente] ¿Tienes tú más camisas?

Don't forget the commas when addressing someone. It helps us know who is being addressed.

Is he saying 'look' or 'do you see' with ve? If it's look as an imperative then 've' is the 'tú' form - Kiwi-Girl, Apr 10, 2011
