I'm having difficulty conjugating here. Here is an example sentence containing the phrase that's giving me difficulty. (Yes, this is about baseball.)

"There have been nine teams total, but only six of them currently operate."

Han sido nueve equipos. There have been nine teams or Habian nueve equipos.
