Go to youtube and other sources, but any Spanish-speaking variant is helpful to learn Spanish.

There are many "variants" (dialects) of Spanish in Spain (depending, mostly, on the region).

P.S. You are being exposed (in school) to a variant of Mexican Spanish (there are several variants there, too [again, depending on the region]).
