En los viejos tiempos, este tipo de máquina era el único medio que había para escribir una buena carta de presentación.

( This type of machine was the only way in the good old days to write a letter of good presentation. )

Hi Sakis, your sentence is okay, but would sound more natural if you write it like this - 'In "the good old days"/" the past"/"days gone by", this type of machine....' :D - galsally, Apr 8, 2011

Cualquier shouldn't agree in gender, "de cualquier cosa". Also, to avoid repetition ( amigo) you could say. El mejor tipo de amigo es 'aquel' con quien puedes hablar de cualquier cosa. Excellent, rabbit! :) - cogumela, Apr 8, 2011
Thanks! :) That helps, I'll remember. - rabbitwho, Apr 8, 2011

Persona is femenine, then... "honesta" :) Excellent, jennyo! Very tiny mistake! :) - cogumela, Apr 8, 2011
Hm... upon reflexion, I'm thinking that "el tipo" is masculine... so you could be saying " una persona del tipo honesto" and it would be correct. But still, the sentence, so said, sounds a bit strange. :) - cogumela, Apr 8, 2011
Gracias cogumela. - jennyo45, Apr 8, 2011
