to make a basket in basketball
How do you say "make a basket" as in basketball?
How do you say "half" as in half-time?

I agree with everything that Deansky has said, only a couple of things, here we know a dunk as a clavada and half-time is also known as "medio tiempo", also "make a basket" is known as "encestar" or "hacer una canasta".
Why the Spanish team Deansky jajaja.
I forgot: Welcome to the forum.
All shots are called "tiro," and can be called "lanzamiento" if done from afar (perimeter shots). To score is "anotar". "Hacer un tiro" is to attempt a shot, to launch a shot from afar (any shot from the perimeter) is "lanzar un tiro." A dunk is a "mate." A "tiro libre" is a free-throw.
Half-time is "el descanso."
"Haga una cesta" o "hecha una cesta" o "tira una cesta" (though the last one is more like the attempted shot) all can imply shooting a basketball....
At the half could be interpreted as "a la mitad del juego" o "media jornada" but not too sure how much the latter is used in sporting parlance....
