Game for English Learners - Drop one, take one: Phrasal Verbs!
The idea for this game is similar to Coge una, suelta otra.
It's going to be with phrasal verbs their definitions, and examples of their use.
You will take the verb or the particle of the previous phrasal verb and form a new one, include a definition (it can be from a dictionary) and an example sentence (it must be your own work).
E.g.
Look up. - To find the meaning of something in the dictionary.
For example: Jane needs to look up a lot of words in the dictionary when she studies Spanish.
Wash up - To clean the ware. (Dishes, plates, knives, forks etc.)
For example: It was Simon's turn to do the wash up after dinner.
Wash out - To remove something by washing.
For example: I spilled tomato sauce on my skirt but I managed to wash it out.
One meaning for each phrasal verb is enough. If your English is very good you can try to take a phrasal verb you already know and find a meaning for it you didn't know already.
Including pictures is excellent ![]()
Everyone is welcome to take part! ![]()
Let's start with:
Set off - To begin a journey.
For example: They set off for the beach at 1 in the afternoon.
