So I'm pretty new to spanish and I'm not sure to say "a new building is being constructed", should this be "ser construidos", "es construido" or something completely different? thanks smile

Bienvenido, saladrasta!

You can use the passive se construction:

Se está construyendo un nuevo edificio.

is being constructed sounds like a continuous (progressive) tense to me.

un nuevo edificio está ser construido

At least, the machine translator agrees with me.

"Está ser construido" is simply grammatically wrong, and the translator should not be trusted. You can say "Está siendo construido", which is fine, but I much prefer Deanski's suggestion. - lazarus1907, Apr 4, 2011
After all, "being" = "siendo", isn't it? - lazarus1907, Apr 4, 2011
I knew that you had to use construido, but i didn't know the rest. I should get a small section of a lollypop. But I won't demand it, because I'll end up with the stick. - rabbitwho, Apr 4, 2011
RofL@Rabbit hahahaha some people would give you some stick but we will be kind and give you the lolly wrapper instead lol hahaaha - FELIZ77, Apr 4, 2011
