To be serious about something

Hi guys,

I have another question for you...

How does one express the idea of being "serious" about something, as in, they aren't just contemplating it? As in, "If you are serious about going to africa, I will help you plan". I know the phrase "En serio", but this is (I think) kind of more like, so you aren't joking? I wouldn't think that you'd be able to say "Si quieres ir a africa en serio, te ayudo para hacer planes." Although I may be wrong.

The spanishdict entry suggests "estar decidido" which I would also think does not express what I am after...I would translate this as "To be decided", as in, "certain". To be serious about something does not mean one has decided on it 100%, only that they are considering it, but not just kind of thinking about it. If that makes sense. "De veras" is another phrase that I've heard that I don't think would fit for the same reasons as en serio.

Anyone able to translate better than me?

Thanks.
