Is it like hablar? How do I use it in the Present Indicative?

When I was in Chile, I learned platicar as "chat," but in Mexico it is used as "say" or "tell." It's a regular -ar verb, and you can check it out both in the spanishdict dictionary and the spanishdict verb conjugator (under More in the drop-down menu at the top of this page.)

Platicar is like charlar it means to chat, or talk (similar to hablar)

it is a colloquial expression used widely in Mexico and central America

It is a regular ar verb conjugated like hablar

platico = I talk/chat

platicas = you talk/chat ( familiar form)

To answer your recent question: I believe that hablar is used to indicate talking with someone in a more formal sense in contrast to charlar and platicar which is more about chatting in an informal way with friends and involves an extended conversation whereas hablar is just a general word for talking I am open to correction from natives/advanced speakers on this point.

I hope this helps grin

Cool, thanks! Yeah, I looked it up in the translation and it said "Talk" so I was just wondering how it was different from "Hablar"
