For the pronoun to be attached to the conjugated verb, it must be a positive command. (They also attach to the gerundio and the infinitive)

Ayúdale a hacer su tarea.......Help her do her homework. (informal tú command)

Tengo que ayudarle a hacer su tarea. ....I have to help her do her homework.

Le is an indirect object pronoun It is not a reflexive pronoun to be used in the pronominal or reflexive uses of the verb (ayudarse).

I.am not clear on answers given. So how would you say, I want to help you (female), as opposed to I want to help you (male)?

Quiero ayudarle - both males and females, extra formal way to say something, it is also considered "leísmo" by some.

Quiero ayudarla - female

Quiero ayudarlo - male

Would that help?

In lo ayudo, lo is a direct object pronoun, orrectly used in thus case, But what is the reason for using le in en que puedo ayudarle

ayudale = help him/her! (only in Argentina and a few other places)

ayúdale = help him/her!

ayudarle = to help him/her (or helping him/her, depending on the sentence)

First will use in that sentence, where you're looking for help yourself:

But Ayúdale use in that case, where your will say for help other to others.

No. En qué puedo ayudarle o ¿Lo ayudo? ¿Te ayudo? . In English if we said " Help you?" That is not a command. The pronoun can only be attached to ayuda if it is a command. - 0074b507, Apr 4, 2011
