Not do something except verb.

I am trying to say, "They didn't do anything except move." Would it be, "No hacían nada excepto de mover.?" I am really confused by whether it should be in the infinitive or it should be conjugated. If it's supposed to be conjugated, how would I conjugate it?

You´re right about the need for infinitive, however, the most natural to say this would be "No hicieron nada más que mudarse." (assuming you are talking about changing someones place of residence)

And "Hacer" in preterito because it is something that had a beginning and end in the ´past.
