Difference between "para entonces" and "para esa época"?

Is there a difference between "para entonces" and "para esa época", both meaning "by that time" ? I have the feeling that "para entonces" can also be used for future actions or happenings and "para esa época" can only by used for something that happened already. Thanks.

Usually "entonces" as noun is used in past tense and with an article. "En ese entonces solíamos pasear cada día / En esa época solíamos ........"

In future it is used more as a situation. "Ya para ese entonces no estaremos aquí."

"Época" is used only as a time period.
