I woke up when I was awakened, so then I was awake; it was an awakening! I suggest using "not asleep" & "rouse from sleep"; this old term is hairy! - Lector_Constante, Apr 1, 2011

Hello Obregon and Welcome to the SpanishDict forum grin

awake* adj =1 not sleeping, fully conscious 2 aware of what is going on around you e.g. awake to danger

(To) awake vb 3 to emerge or rouse from sleep 4 to become alert

awaken* vb to 1 awake 2 to cause to be aware of e.g+.: fears awakened by memories of the past
