How to say "it has been a long time since" ?

How to say "it has been a long time since" ?

What is the best way to say this? Whenever you want to say that any amount of time has gone by since doing something, since an event has taken place, etc. You get the idea.

I thought I could say, "Hace mucho tiempo," but apparently not.

Would I then say, "Ha sido un largo tiempo desde" instead? It seems so literal. I don't know why that bugs me, but it does. lol

Please help! smile

Hace mucho tiempo = long time ago. BUT hace mucho tiempo que = It's been a long time since, and if you are wondering about desde becuase that means since, and desde hace mucho tiempo has entered your mind now, that means "for some time now"..

Desde hace mucho tiempo que escucho esta canción = Been listening to this song for a long time.....

Hace mucho tiempo que no he oido esta cancion.

Haven't heard that song in a long time....

Of course anyone else wants to post a desde hace / hace counterpoint I would love to hear it, I could use a refresher on it.

FYI Ha sido un largo tiempo desde gets 14,000 hits on google, but I never heard it, is it right? Good question, I would love to know if it can be used instead of hace mucho tiempo que no.......

Hola, Diddy.

"Hace mucho tiempo" = A long time ago

"Ha sido mucho tiempo desde" = It's been a long time since

"Ha pasado tanto tiempo desde" = It's been a long time since
