"Gas tank" in spanish

Question

When I searched for the translation of "gas tank" (for a car) the result was "tanque de gas" This seems like somewhat of a literal translation, and I wasn't sure if it was it was correct. Is it correct or is there another word that native spanish speakers use? Thanks!

"Tanque de nafta" in Argentina. If the context is clear enough, it's just "el tanque". In technical talk it's usually called "tanque de combustible". This last one is good either for diesel or gas.

As you can see, this sort of thing can vary from region to region.

In Mexico, it´s "El tanque de gasolina."

And a tank for Diesel fuel is "El tanque de combustible."

I both Mexico and Guatemala I heard it as "tanque de petro."

You can traslate as fuel tank
