Desde...hasta..

Question

I know that you can use this construction when you are talking about places like: "Desde las montañas hasta la ciudad", but can you use it when you are talking about doing a variety of activities? Do I need to use de....a.. instead? Gracias.

Por ejemplo: "Desde buceo con delfines en el tranquilo mar abierto de las Bahamas hasta escalda en roca por los Alpes Suizos, nos divertiríamos muchísimo."

Yes, you can:

Bailo desde rock'n'roll hasta hip hop.

Oigo desde ópera hasta metal trash.

Toco desde la harmónica hasta el piano.

Etcétera.

But, you can´t use de... a.... in these sentences.

By the way, how would you say that in English?

I dance from rock'n'roll to hip hop

Luis, gracias por su respuesta. In English I think it would translate something like: "I listen to everything from rock'n'roll to hip hop" or "I play everything from the harmonica to the piano."

(en el espacio) to;

Note that this dictionary entry mentions that it is a spacial context; not a temporal context.
