Context, context, context!

Context, context, context!

Context is always important. For example, dar can be used for all kinds of things...depending on context.

But what if your language consists entirely of a single word (dah!)? Context would be of paramount importance in such a language.

What? You don't think there are any languages that have only one word?

See for yourself!

That's brilliant! What amazing use of tone and what expressive body language! The twin on the left seems to be very good at telling jokes.Think what fun we could have inventing "translations" of that conversation! Thanks for helping me start my day with a laugh.

I think they are having a blast imitating what they think the adults do. Yes, they are capturing tonal qualities quite well. They got it sounding like a real conversation. - webdunce, Mar 31, 2011
