How do you say vegetables?

I am curius how u say VEGETABLES because i have these dos amigas- 1 is mexican & the other is frum El Salvador...well the mexican said that in her family they say VERDURAS for vegetables while the one frum El Salvador said she says it as LEGUMBRES. n i need help for a spanish proyecto. so which one should i chose??? gulp question

Verduras refers to vegetables in general, whereas legumbres (notice the similarity to the english word legumes) refers to a specific type of vegetable (pod vegetable).

I'am from mexico and we call the vegetables vegetales o verduras.
