What does que pretendes mean?

I know that the word "pretendes" means "intend" but I am having a little trouble understanding exactly what my friend is trying to tell me, this is the sentence he wrote, "dime por favor que pretendes", does this mean tell me what you intend to do or tell me that you intend to do it?

Dime por favor que pretendes = Please tell me what you intend.

Not very specific, but that's what the person has said!

I don't have the rest of the context but I believe he is saying "tell me, please, what you mean" ...I think its a statement asking for clarification.

I would translate it as: Just tell me what do you want? or What is on your mind?

Just out of curiosity, should that be:

Dime, por favor, lo que pretendes

or, perhaps,

Dime, por favor, qué pretendes (indirect question)

yeah,I agree with agmckenz, que pretendes is what do you mean, or what do you want to do... que pretendes hacer con esto?...so, what do you want to do whit this?...

Is a sort of inquiry about your real plans, a request for a further information, trying to be sure about what do you really want to do or are you thinking...
