When do I use mismo vs. mismA

How do I know whether to use mismo, misma, or mismos/mismas?! The examples given in my textbook show no gender or number agreement, does that mean I can use any of the four and it is still gramatically correct?!

Welcome to the forum!
Mismo(a) can be used as an adjective. "Mismo" is used when modifying a masculine noun. Misma is used when modifying a feminine noun.
It can also be used as a pronoun or an adverb. You can check some examples in the dictionary for its use in those applications.
