passive?!? What? Where? - samdie, Mar 28, 2011
Yes, sandie this is passive sentence with that clause - maylegoas, Mar 28, 2011
It must be really well hidden, for I can't see any passive sentence either. Passives require to be + past participle, and "bad" and "old" are not. - lazarus1907, Mar 28, 2011
you all right, sorry and thank you - maylegoas, Mar 28, 2011

Scholars said that junk food is bad for your health or unhealthy, but some teenagers assume that that belief is outdated.

(I doubt that teenagers refute the truth of the belief, they just don't care. How many of them drink and drive, experiment with drugs, start smoking, etc. despite universal acceptance that these things are dangerous and unhealthy?)

OK and thanks gfreed, but is that double that that, or is a mistake? - maylegoas, Mar 28, 2011
it is OK - maylegoas, Mar 28, 2011
"that that" is correct, first one is relative pronoun, second one is subject pronoun of last phrase (which belief? "that" belief). - pesta, Mar 28, 2011
Q, the first "that" could be omitted to smooth out the sentence. Relative pronoun "that" is frequently omitted in English. - pesta, Mar 28, 2011

By the way, I don't see a passive expression here,

Scholars said that junk food is bad to health, but some teenagers assume that this culture is old

This following example shows use of passive phrases:

Junk food is said to be bad to health, but it is assumed by some teenagers that this culture is old
