Is it "más que" or "mas que"

Is it "más que" or "mas que"

When using "más," is there a rule for whether or not the "a" has an accent? I'm particularly interested in phrases like "faster than"-- "más rápido que" or "mas rápido que" Also, would "the fastest be" el mas rápido, lo mas rápido, la mas rápida, etc.? Any tips would be appreciated! Muchas gracias.

"más" = more, as in I want more "quiero más". "mas" = but, as in I want it but I don't have it "lo quiero mas no lo tengo". "mas" is an older form of "pero" and is not used much anymore. It is more poetic. There are a few Spanish words with the same spelling but with different meanings. To distinguish them an accent is used. solo and sólo is another example.

When doing comparisons use the accent mark - más.

Checking them both in the dictionary here will help explain it.

I believe "más rápido que" would be correct.
