Can Celeste be a name for a boy?
I have called one of my pet cats Celeste because HE has very special qualities and the meaning of the Spanish adjective more than applies to HIM. However, I have now been told that Celeste is a girl's name. Please could you clarify this for me. Many thanks!
Thanks so much all of you! I've had a few giggles at some of the replies and have found the more serious ones very informative.

Call your cat what you please, but please do not name a baby boy Celeste!
It would be safer to go with something more conventional, like Moon Unit.
Ce·leste? ?/s??l?st/ Show Spelled [suh-lest] Show IPA
noun a female given name: from a Latin word meaning heavenly.
As a boy's name I think it ranks right up there with "Sue", but as rabbit pointed the cat will be okay with it as long as you don't dress him up in pink.
I think it is a "pretty" girls' name.
Could be, but I do not recommend it you hahahaha. Not really, Celeste is usually a girl name in spanish.
Never heard of it as a boy's name. Depending on where you are located, it may sound odd. It definitely will in a Spanish speaking country.
Anyway, I don't think your cat would have any trouble with it. ![]()
